Shanetris Campbell has decided to spill her tea in the tell all book “I’m Not My Father’s Daughter!”
In the book, Shane, the oldest daughter of Miami born Rap legend Luther Campbell, formerly of the raunchy group 2 Live Crew, candidly reveals a life of privilege and poverty.
In a recent interview with TheGrio.com, Shane opens up about her estranged relationship with her celebrity dad; life in the projects and the palace; motherhood and survival of the fittest.
Peep excerpts from the interview…….
theGrio: Tell us a little bit about growing up with an estranged father.
Shane Campbell: They were lows and highs…I got to see what it was like to live on both ends of the spectrum. My mother’s side…and even more so my grandmother raised me in the projects of Liberty City of Miami. It was extremely hard, especially in comparison to where my dad and the rest of his family grew accustomed to living in a mansion.
Your father, on numerous occasions, has refused to claim you as his child and when questioned in public he’s referred to you as his ‘sperm donation’. What, if any resentment do you have towards your father?
It was tough growing up…knowing where you were raised and knowing where he was living at. It broke my heart for him to refer to me as a sperm donation. But I still loved him. He is still my dad.
There’s an excerpt from your book where your dad owes your mother back child support payments and he pays her in pennies. I can only imagine what was going through your head at the time.
It was hard. No reason to lie about it. But I still knew deep down inside my dad still loved me.
Wow, through it all she still loves her dad!

The saying is very true especially for girls……“there’s nothing like the love of your father.”
Shane also appeared on the Jill Tracey radio show, admitting that she turned to a life of stripping and dealing with pimps……..because she was homeless and to seek the attention of her dad!
In the heartfelt interview, Shane read an excerpt of the book about the time as a child, when Luke called the house and told her boldly, “You are not my daughter….so stop calling me.”
Oddly enough, tests have proven his paternity and Shane even inherited Luke’s trademark gaped-tooth!
Proceeds from the book will go towards Shane’s Precious Heart Foundation, that works towards bringing relief to families and children in crisis.
