Chaz Bono made his dancing debut on Dancing with the Stars!

Bono appeared tonight, with partner Lacey Schwimmer, for season 13 of the ABC hit show Dancing with the Stars.

The son, who was born the daughter, of legendary singers Sonny and Cher has been the stir of major controversy since being announced as the first transgender contestant on the popular show.

Bono and Schwimmer, who performed at the end of the two-hour premier, danced the Cha Cha and earned 17 out of 30 from the judges.

I feel great. I was feeling pretty good when I was doing it. I was trying to focus on the dance, do a good job, and have fun and I think I did just that. This has been such a good experience. When I started I was like no matter what I’m going to try to enjoy every minute. Even with the nerves and everything, I just told myself to enjoy the moment, said Bono
