Legendary singer-songwriter Nick Ashford has died from a long battle with throat cancer.

According to reports, Ashford, 70, one half of the Motown songwriting duo Ashford & Simpson, succumbed to his battle with throat cancer on Monday in a New York hospital.
Ashford along with his wife Valerie Simpson, penned classics such as “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” “Reach Out and Touch Somebody’s Hand,” and “Your All I Need to Get By.”
The couple were inducted into the ‘Songwriters’ Hall of Fame in 2002.
In addition to Valerie, Ashford leaves behind two daughters.
