SPORTS SCOOP: PLAXICO BURRESS READY FOR RELEASE *UPDATE*

NFL star Plaxico Burress has been released, after serving a 20 month prison bid.  According to the tea, Burress 33, will be was released from the Oneida Correctional Facility, in upstate New York, on Monday.

In 2008, just eight months after winning the Super Bowl, the former New York Giants receiver entered a Manhattan nightclub with a gun in his pants and accidentally shot himself in the thigh.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg was hot as fish grease, about the incident, calling for him to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

According to reports, officials at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center treated Burress and failed to report the shooting, as required by law. A doctor who treated Burress was later suspended.

He was sentenced to two years for illegally carrying a handgun, leaving behind his NFL career, a son and his wife who was pregnant at the time.

The gun was not licensed in New York or in New Jersey, where Burress lived. His license to carry a concealed weapon in Florida had expired in May 2008.

Sources say, Burress was held in protective custody and didn’t have a cellmate because of his celebrity status.

But he was able to socialize with others in his unit, including “Sopranos” actor Lillo Brancato Jr., who’s serving 10 years on an attempted burglary conviction.

Prison records indicated several infractions such as lying to officers to use the phone, giving an inmate a pair of sneakers, possession of three dozen cassette tapes, an extra, state-issued pillow and check this out……

A “filthy” cell strewn with bags of food, dirty clothes, books and mail.

I guess Plax said, dayum this!  I’m in a stinky, nasty ass cell…..not my big 7 bedroom estate in Davie, I’m not cleaning up shigity!

LOL

The infractions — considered minor — cost him recreation, phone and other privileges at times, and he was told to clean up his room.

Upon his release, Plax plans to return to his home in Florida and spend time with his family(his wife delivered a daughter while he was away).

But with the NFL lockout, added to his personal drama, Burress’ football career looks even dimmer.

His agent Drew Rosenhaus told The Associated Press, the NFL star is still in demand……

He will play in the NFL this year. Many teams want him. He will be a top free agent. He is healthy and ready to go. He will be signed shortly after the lockout ends.

Good news for P.B and his family!

UPDATE:  SINCE THIS POST, PLAXICO BURRESS HAS BEEN RELEASED.
