I received a text this morning that sent chills through my spine!
The son of my very first boyfriend(Charles Bennett) had been shot and killed!
Rajaan Bennett, 18, an outstanding football recruit for Vanderbilt University was shot and killed by his mother’s(Narjaketha Bennett) ex-boyfriend! SMH
STORY HERE!
According to reports:
Officers heard four or five gunshots around 2:30 a.m. as they arrived at the home where Rajaan Bennett, 18, lived with his mother, said Powder Springs Maj. Charles Spann. Inside they found Bennett, a running back at McEachern High School who was rated among Georgia’s top college football prospects, dead of a gunshot wound.
Boyd said Clifton Steger, 39, of Milledgeville shot Bennett and then killed himself. Bennett’s uncle, Taiwan Hunter, 32, was wounded and underwent surgery. He was in critical condition Thursday afternoon. His mother, Narjaketha Bennett, and two other children were unharmed.
It was not clear what prompted the shooting, but Spann said there was no sign of a struggle. He also said there had been no previous reports of domestic violence at the west Georgia home.
This story brings tears to my eyes and hits home on so many levels….
Narjaketha was good friends with my cousin and we all graduated high school together!
Just a few weeks ago, “Ketha” proudly announced Rajaan’s signing to Vanderbilt on Face Book…….and all of our classmates congratulated her!
Her husband Charles passed away, in a car accident, few years ago and she has raised her three kids as a single mom since!
Rajaan’s college scholarship and future football career was such a great accomplishment!
Ketha, the kids and their family is in my prayers! {tearfully upset}

Wow! so sad to hear abot Rajaan. I know his mom and his dad very well. We all went to school together. I knew his dad because he is was muy cousin’s first boyfriend. I know Ketha from school as well. So sad, Ketha and her family are in my prayers. Gone to soon.

THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE SAID TO EXPRESS HOW SAD I FEEL FOR NARJAKETHA AND HER FAMILY. MY SON IS TURNING 18 IN APRIL AND I CAN’T IMAGINE LIVING MY LIFE WITHOUT HIM IN IT. THE SORROW SHE MUST FEEL IS UNTHINKABLE. I WILL BE PRAYING THAT THE STRENGTH SHE NEEDS TO GET THROUGH THIS HORRIBLE MOMENT WILL BE GIVEN TO HER PROMPTLY AND RIGHT ON TIME. MY SINCERE CONDOLENCES TO HER AND THE FAMILY.

Keta has been a friend of mine ALL of my life. I cannot begin to imagine what she is going thru. My prayers are with her, as well as her parents (Elijah & Chris). Those who know her knows she has done a hell of a job raising the kids after the death of Charles. GOD Bless!
